Background: This study investigated factors affecting the intention to register brain-dead organ donation.
Materials and Methods: A survey was conducted with 160 outpatients from a university hospital in Seoul. Descriptive statistics, t-tests, an ANOVA, Scheffe¡¯s test, Pearson¡¯s correlantion coefficient, and stepwise regression analysis were used.
Results: Religion (¥â = 0.133, P = 0.028), theory of planned behavior (subjective norms; ¥â = 0.272, P = 0.001), attitudes toward behavior (¥â = 0.192, P = 0.024), perceived behavioral control (¥â = 0.159, P = 0.048), and interpersonal communication (¥â = 0.192, P = 0.025) were significant in the intention to register as organ donation in brain-dead patients.
Conclusions: To increase the intention to register brain-dead organ donation, it is necessary that frequent conversations and listening to information from various people, such as family, relatives, and acquaintances should become more active.
